California winter beckons OVS students into the outdoors! From January class hikes in the Los Padres National Forest to our high school students backpacking beneath the towering red arches of the Utah wilderness, outdoor adventures are a core part of the OVS experience. At all grade levels, students learn to appreciate, respect, and care for the environment outside their back doors. They also develop independence and self-confidence by participating in multi-day backpacking trips in middle and high school.
Outdoor trips throughout the year include rock climbing, surfing, kayaking, mountain biking, river rafting, camping, star gazing, equestrian trail rides, as well as restoration projects in conjunction with the Channel Islands National Park. Visit the Outdoor Education section of the website to learn more about trip offerings at the Lower and Upper campuses.
